I had the privilege of drinking whisky at one of Scotland's oldest whisky distilleries, Glengoyne Distillery only 30 minutes from Glasgow. Previous to my visit whisky wasn't something I was particularly fond of. It was something men ordered in saloons after they've stumbled in from the frontier. It was something that Frank Sinatra drank in a crystal tumbler with a drizzle of water in classic films. It looked delicious to me, but when it came time to try it I shuddered at the smell. The scent would bring tears to my eyes, send my stomach to a curdle before the brown elixir even reached my lips. But that was because I wasn't drinking the right stuff nor was I drinking it the right ...

Literally 2 Hours in York, England + Video
I knew I wanted to see one more English city before leaving the country by train. We escaped London gleefully upon our Virgin Train, 1st class no less, and arrived in York 2 hours later. The town was recommended to me by a Twitter follower who preferred the city over my second option of Bath. Considering that Bath, England was quadruple the price for a train the choice was made even easier. York it would be and York it was! Founded in 71 AD, York was purely and enigmatically wonderful. Just a short 10 minute walk from the train station the Old Town is picturesque with Medieval buildings and cobblestone streets. We lucked out that day and arrived during the York Food and Drink Festival. ...
The 6 Best Things I Ate & Drank in Scotland
London was a bit disappointing in terms of food. Other than the food tour we took we just weren't wowed as much as I had hoped. However, the real culinary gems were ahead of us in Scotland and Ireland. Scotland in particular gave us an opportunity to indulge our sweet tooth, experience gourmet meals and learn that I in fact enjoy scotch whisky. But believe me when I say that all this good food happened by a fluke. It all began with a Buzzfeed article on the best AirBnBs in Scotland. I clicked the baited link and shockingly found the perfect spot for a honeymooning couple. Leith. Leith is the historic port in Edinburgh and is the oldest part of the city. While many tourists want to ...
Postcards from Scotland: Our UK Honeymoon
Scotland provided a welcomed change of pace from the busy streets of London. The people were happier and induced conversation. The buildings are older and have some charming grit to them. The weather was much colder, a fact that I rather enjoyed as compared to the warm dampness in the air that tended to irritate me in London. Scotland was crisp and rugged much like my home in British Columbia, Canada at this time of year. As a fan of the Outlander television show I was enthralled in its history and even impressed my husband with the extent of my knowledge of Scottish history (thank you Diana Gabaldon!). In Scotland, much like Ireland, their stories are tragic and their traditional music ...
Secret Food Tours London: A Taste of Britain + Video
In London decent food wasn't hard to come by but frankly memorable meals were. At least that was the case for my husband and I on our honeymoon. That is until we went on our Secret Food Tour London featuring traditional British fare in the area of Borough Market and London Bridge. See the video below: At first I figured I'd be familiar with everything offered. There would be no surprises from London. From scotch eggs and fish n' chips to cheese and bread I've seen it all. But the tour held delicious surprises and some of the best food we'd have in all of the UK during our honeymoon. Our first stop was Borough Market. A vast and mostly covered sphere of vendors selling everything from ...
Postcards from London: Our UK Honeymoon
London was a whirlwind. A beautiful city as proof from our postcards from London. A busy city with tourists and people in suits rubbing shoulders in a rush to get to where they're going. In most European cities that both my husband and I have visited the two sectors, historical/tourist and local business seem to marry well. In London however they seem to engross each other. This made for one busy city on the streets and the tube. And thank goodness for the tube! We were able to explore so much of the vast city in our 5 days of being there. We did all the touristy things as you'd expect for first timers to London. Some were worth our time and some were not but we know for next time. While ...
The Reveal: Honeymoon Itinerary
If you haven't been paying close attention to my little breadcrumbs I've been leaving throughout the past few months then you may not know where we decided to go for our honeymoon. With the wedding last week (August 20th) I figured what better time to tell you than now? We've decided to go to the UK! You might be shocked. Why on earth would newlyweds flock to the UK fresh in the wake of Brexit and all that gloomy weather? Well for one, Zika deterred us from going anywhere we wanted to go at first. Jamaica. Turks & Caicos. Bali. Even Hawaii ! While we do not fear for our lives or health traveling to these places, we more fear that, as newlyweds concerned for our potential future ...
