Eat Like a Local in Venice
Other than the crowds the number 1 complaint I’ve heard about Venice is that it can be hard to find good food. Frankly, those comments come from people who are either cruise ship visitors with limited time or tourists who do not stray from San Marc’s Square. Avoid paying 18 € for a coffee! Go, eat and explore away from the obvious areas you read about in the tourist guide books.
When I am unfamiliar with a city I find is crucial to do my research and go on a local led food tour. I did so with Walks of Italy and discovered not only where to dine out like a local but also shop the markets. In doing a food tour I also gained insight into the history of the Cannaregio and Rialto areas.
Explore the oldest market in Venice, sip on Prossecco made in the Veneto and bar hop eating authentic Venetian cicchetti.
If you can, try to stay in an AirBnB or GowithOh apartment so that you can fully experience the markets and what it is like to live like a Venetian.
