Even though I am Canadian and we are slightly offset from our American counterparts when it comes to Thanksgiving, and usually holidays in general, the Macy’s Day Parade is certainly what kicks off the holiday season for my family. We set up the tree, I indulge much more often and bake as much as possible.I am now allowed to watch Love Actually and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation once a week (as opposed to not watching it the rest of the year so I try to get my fix).

For my readers, I will have some visual treats after this coming weekend is through. I will be attending the Vancouver German Christmas Market which is guaranteed to have some spectacular foods and drinks to taste. I am sure I will be adding more ornaments to my tree when I get back due to all the authentic Eastern European goods being sold, as well as many local vendors.
In the meantime I’ll leave you with some spectacular images that will be featured in the December 2011 issue of Vecu Magazine. You can also see all the contributors top 10 holiday picks for this year!
The article features Okanagan’s Quails’ Gate Winery and their Sugar Plum Fair event with some lovely ballerinas. Forgive the weather (I mean lack of snow) as we’ve been having an odd year mixed with sun and rain and very little snow so far.
