Back from Mexico! But I’ll talk about my experience in another post. With only two days away until Christmas I thought I should pay homage to this lovely time of year.
Christmastime is my favourite season and I can only imagine what it would be like to celebrate the holidays in some of the most charming cities and towns of the world. So, this gave me an idea to share some amazing videos that showcase snowy landscapes abroad. I have also provided some links to bloggers featured from the area so you too can follow their holiday celebrations.
So curl up with some spiked eggnog or warm tea with brandy and enjoy!
With these videos I wish you all a happy holiday!
1. Florence
This first video is by Francesco Lepori and provides some picturesque Tuscan landscape images.
2. Vienna Christmas Markets
Video has some good music and great photography!
3. Paris
Haunting and gorgeous slideshow.
4. Brussels Christmas Market
This video is well done and features everything from the decor to the food! Definitely a place for the Wanderfull Traveler to check out one day.
5. Quebec
Despite living in Canada I have yet to visit Montreal. I know it to be a culinary trend setter as well as Canada’s cultural and artistic pulse.
This last video is something I stumbled upon last night while watching the Knowledge Network. An amazing project was documented where an authentic 18th century Victorian farmhouse is resurrected for an old fashioned Victorian christmastime. The women must hand stitch gifts, make authentic sweets and the feast while the men restore a brick kiln, make their wrapping paper and prepare the home for a party. The success of the holiday depends upon the teamwork of the crew with the help of the historical experts. See the conclusion to this on Christmas day or you can follow all the episodes on youtube.com
I took your advice and grabbed a eggnog spiked with rum and watched these videos. Some really great work here.
I watched the Victorian christmas before and I gained a good appreciation for the amount of work that used to go into christmas with a family/community.
Good stuff!
