Okanagan Wine
50th Parallel Winery has long been one of those wineries many tourists don’t get to because it requires going that extra mile, or 8 kilometres to be precise. With their newly added Block One onsite restaurant the visitors are eagerly making reservations and going the extra 8 kms from Gray Monk or The Chase to 50th Parallel.
Reservations at Block One are highly recommended if you want to grab a spot at the picturesque outdoor restaurant in the summer. The restaurant will move indoors to make it a year round venue for delicious wine curated food, weddings and more.
The menu offers unique dishes all centred around the outdoor wood fired oven with delicious appetizers such as scallops, crab cakes and flat bread all cooked with the outdoor oven. Grab a spot at the bar if you want to watch the chefs cook and plate the dishes – something foodies like me enjoy doing. For heartier dishes, go with the burger, rack of lamb or halibut.
Lake Country is for white wine lovers so expect Gewurztraminer, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Resiling. There is a Pinot Noir available by the bottle at the restaurant, however, tastings of this particular wine are not usually offered.
Feel free to send a message if you want to chat about the Okanagan, wine, travel or how much we mutually love cheese!
